DAP–K Leaders Close Ranks, Form Committee to Steer Party Ahead of Malava By-Election
Nairobi, August 12, 2025
The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP–K) has reaffirmed its unity and political resolve following a high-level National Council meeting that brought together senior leaders, including Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya today at DAP-K headquarters in Karen, Nairobi.
The meeting, held to address key internal and national political concerns, resolved to form a special committee tasked with monitoring party activities, strengthening structures, and ensuring transparency and democracy within the party.
Hon. Wamalwa declared that DAP–K remains intact and resolute, dismissing claims of internal wrangles or a looming split. He vowed that the party would not be intimidated or undermined by external forces.
“President Hon. William Samoei Ruto, we will not allow you to kill this party or undermine us. You will find one solid party ready to challenge you. Your university funding strategy has failed, and leadership is not about self-greed. We will vote you out,”Hon. Wamalwa said.
Governor Natembeya assured supporters that all outstanding issues within DAP–K were being resolved, insisting the party remains a political home for all.
“We have several issues to work on, but the foundation of transparency and democracy is firm. All is well within our party, and we assure those in doubt that DAP–K is stable and united,” Governor Natembeya said.
Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula, who also attended the meeting, stressed that there were no leadership wrangles in the party and vowed an aggressive campaign to secure victory in the upcoming Malava parliamentary by-election.
“Malava parliamentary seat we must win. We are ahead of our competitors,” he asserted.
Hon. Wamalwa maintained that the party had the capacity to withstand political pressure from the ruling regime, saying:
“We know how the president operates. We will not allow anyone to dissolve this party. We have the capacity to chew gum and walk at the same time. DAP–K will not be intimidated.”
The newly appointed committee will guide the party through upcoming by-elections across the country, with leaders promising a strong showing in every contest.
With the Malava by-election shaping up to be a fierce political battle, DAP–K’s top brass is projecting unity, confidence, and readiness to challenge what they describe as an increasingly oppressive political environment.
