The Jamia Mosque Committee has unveiled a historic photo exhibition in Nairobi celebrating a century of faith, community service and leadership, marking 100 years since the iconic mosque became a spiritual and cultural landmark at the heart of the capital.

The centennial exhibition, running from October 27 to 30, 2025, is being held at the Jamia Multi-Purpose Hall and features a rare collection of archival photographs chronicling the mosque's remarkable evolution from its modest beginnings in the 1920s to its present-day role as a spiritual, educational and social beacon for the Muslim community and the nation at large.

According to the Jamia Mosque Committee, the exhibition offers a visual journey through a century of transformation, capturing key moments in the mosque's architectural development, community initiatives and civic engagement. The curated images also pay tribute to the visionaries who founded Jamia Mosque and the generations that have sustained its mission of unity, service and moral guidance.

“This exhibition is not only a celebration of Jamia's centenary, but also a reflection of its enduring commitment to faith, education and social progress,” said Hamid the Secretary General of the Jamia Mosque Committee.“It tells the story of how Jamia has remained a cornerstone of Kenya's religious and cultural heritage.”

An artistic projection of the Jamia Mosque’s future where faith, architecture and innovation meet.

The launch event will bring together dignitaries, scholars, community leaders and long-standing partners who have contributed to the mosque's century-long journey. It will also provide a platform to reflect on Jamia's milestones, recognize its achievements and inspire younger generations to carry forward its noble legacy.
